All round Game Developer Based in the Netherlands

I develop games using Unity and C#. I've made many types of games including Tower Defense, Platformers, Top Down Shooters, and more. I am currently learning C++ and Unreal Engine.

About Me

My name is Julian van der Leek, I am 19 years old and enjoy developing games just as much as I enjoy playing them. I was born in Haarlem and currently live in Cruquius. I've lived in Ireland for a year, so my English is at a native level. I am also studying Japanese and am already at N4 level.

A big reason why I chose this study is my passion for amazing games. I've also got a passion for lore and writing. In the games I've developed thus far, I've made scripts as well as the story.

A big inspiration for me is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The way they tell an amazing story with amazing gameplay, all made by a passionate team of 30 people, is an amazing feat and it is my dream to be able to work on a project like it.

Unity Development

I develop games using the Unity engine. I've made multiple projects, including a top-down shooter and a tower defense game. I've also worked on a turn-based fighting game. I'm pretty all-round when it comes to multiple aspects of game development.

CSharp

CSharp or C# is the programming language I use most. It is the language of Unity and thus the language I'm most comfortable with. I can script pretty well.

Scrum

I am experienced in using Scrum methodology for project management and team coordination. I've had many projects where I did daily stand-ups and kept up with user stories. We also maintained a product backlog and updated our board after sprint reviews.

Writing

I have written many stories, including those for my Mythe game, but also for personal projects. My biggest work is a medieval fantasy story which was part of a large Minecraft server where over 100 people played and enjoyed my story.

The LavaStone

The first project I worked on with game artists. To date it's one of my favorite projects. I learned a lot while working on The LavaStone which was our top down shooter set in Hawaii. If you want to learn more click here:

Tower Defense

Vertical Slice

This is to date my most recent project. It was also the toughest. We had to recreate 15 seconds of gameplay of an existing game. We chose the game Darkest Dungeon. We worked on a team with 7 people including artists and developers. During this project I was the lead developer
